Materials and care
Brush Off Dirt: Use a dry brush or cloth to remove loose dirt and mud
Spot Clean: Wipe down with a damp sponge and cold water; avoid hot water and soap.Â
Air Dry: Let it dry completely in a well-ventilated area, away from direct heat.Â
2. Re-waxing (Reproofing)
Check if Needed:
Spray cold water; if it soaks in (instead of beading), it's time to re-wax.Â
Place your tin of wax dressing (like Barbour Thornproof) in a bowl of hot water to soften it.Â
Use a cloth or sponge to rub the melted wax evenly into the fabric, focusing on seams, creases, and dry areas. Keep the tin warm.Â
Don't get wax on the corduroy collar, inside pockets, or lining.Â
Hang the jacket and let it air dry in a warm, dry place for about 24 hours for the wax to set.Â
No Washing Machine: This will strip the wax permanently.Â
Gentle Heat: Use low heat (like a hairdryer) to remove marks, but avoid ironing or high heat.Â
Regularity: Re-wax annually or as needed to maintain water repellency.Â
